The Oxfordshire Smoking Advice Service was established in August 2000 and we already have stop smoking sessions in a number of settings, including:
- Community centres
- GP surgeries
- Hospitals
- Schools and colleges
- Workplaces
The aim is to deliver a comprehensive service for smoking cessation throughout the county and we hope that you will be joining us in helping smokers who are ready to quit!
Advisers need not have a clinical background - within Oxfordshire there are already a number of health care assistants, nursery nurses and reception staff trained as advisers.
Anyone who has a responsibility for health awareness can have an important input in helping smokers to stop smoking. Remember - smokers are four times more likely to succeed in their quit attempt with professional help and medication.
